IDEAL HOME MAGAZINES

THE 'INTELLIGENCIA' MARKET? and mens magazines

BRIGHTON BEACH AND CHEESY POSTCARDS

cant find anymore exameples

A perfect form of escapism....was just so interested in all the bright lights and spinning machines in the arcade..,..getting epoples attention etc. did some films and took some pcitures but my camera has somehow deleted them all.. not important. wasnt that good anyway.

but the dolphin racing games. very strange. betting on a plastic dolphin race....and also...a plaform to go over the sea.......to go and have fun on....what the fuck.......piers are very strange places.....people go there enjoy themselves i assume. having an ice cream...having fish and chips...the done thing at the sea side.

also i bought some really tacky horrible postcards becase me and soraya had a tutorial and we were talking about these fucking hideous cards. sent one to sarah and soraya. the nipple cards especially and how their supposed to be initally funny im guessing the working class but its fucking awful btu then they also become cool to the educatd people for showing bad taste. the post modern thing of everything being ironic and funny.......

INFRA, RUSHES AND ONE BALLET

RUSHES - was a take on contemporary life. I was sat in a really cheap seat and i hardly saw any of it because the stage set was on the left hand side where i was sitting and it made me think about the hirachy within the theatre itself and have started to think about the price of tickets and checking the maps out etc. i was also spending alot of time watching how epople reacted and what they were saying because i was on my own. I find that going on my own it better becuase i watch the people watching. i was becoming more interested in peoples coughing etc which is kind of like an artist called jenny something.....

This was a beautiful ballet and at one point (the best bit) it had lots of people walking across the stage from one side to the other......it was relaly contemporary using white noise and music etc. very different from the swan lake and potter series.

WIMBLEDON DOGS

Two things - Ive never been to an event where there were so many different classes involved. listerally apart from the snobby elite eeveryone was there....also there was a hummer pink limozeene which tunred up with a hen night to the dogs. fucking love it.
also......the toilet sign was so funny. it had loads of different ways of saying the ladies....and there were typos and the sign just looked so shit. looked like it was printed in clipart. also...love it.
CLIPART......HMMMM

" A companion piece applies the same formula to the alphabet--a cultural system nearly as ancient as the calendar and just as dulled by routine--with similarly exquisite results. More elaborate than these reconstructions is Deadline Calendar, which registers a whole year (August 1, 2001 - July 31, 2002) in a grid of cutout seel by dates from food packaging."

Give us this day our daily bread, for tomorrow it shall be stale, no matter what its packaging or preservatives."

AVATAR 3D IMAX

Ummm,......it was pretty cool. Would of been an idiot not to go when its such a monumental box seller. Oliver said its good to go even if its just for the pure spectacle of it, and its the first time ive understood what the spectacle of something meant and now im cpolletely interested in the subject. i realise i dont have time to research it and make work about it before degree show but im going to start photocopy bits about it to read when i leave.
also i want to know what the baroque period means...I have no idea but I heard withers talking to kasia something about baroque and then the spectacle do im guessing their connected somehow.....
it was truely beautiful though...like i really admire his drive to go furthwer and make the machines he needed to make this amazing. It gets everybody excited. it was like pocahontas tho. but bloddy amazing. I see everything cultureal as part of my pracitce....Im not just writing about my going to the cinema....i want to critically engage with how peeple experience escapism...do i need to go without taking part then? because at the moment Im not watching the watchers....im being the watchers. when i was at the ballet I began listening to peoples coughs rather the ballet (shit ballet). watch the watchers.....
